HR King was born in Sydney, Australia. He was first taught performance by Ms Annie Swann, then lived for a number of years in NY, and continued at Uta Hagen's HB Studio for music and acting.
He’s received a number of acclaims for his song writing. He writes about the trials of relationships. He writes about people coming to a higher level of self awareness. Whether it’s having a partner as an excuse for not being alone, or even to realise their potential and push themselves to the limit.
HR King performs as a solo singer throughout Sydney. He co-produced his own shows, Free Again, Shades of Blue, and Writings on the Wall, and has been influenced by many great performers of the past and the present such as, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Donny Hathaway, Kurt Elling, Neyo, Timbaland, Rhianna, Beyonce, Nancy Wilson, and Sarah Vaughn.
He completed acting studies at HB Studio, and has performed in a number of theatre productions including Edmond by David Mamet, Mountain Language by Harold Pinter, and Pentecost by David Edgar. He played guest roles in the Australian TV series Water Rats and Heartbreak High. His latest cameo acting role is in Serhat Caradee's new Australian film 'Cedar Boys', opposite Rachael Taylor. 'Cedar Boys' willing be showing at Hoyts Cinemas, and the 2009 Sydney Film Festival.
