An all round musical extraordinaire, DON DOLLA is one of Sydney’s finest producer, songwriter, composer and reigning talk box king. DON DOLLA first discovered his love for music in high school and soon after it became his sole passion and his dream. While studying at SAE College in Sydney, Australia, his teenage years were spent personally exploring the production side of music as he continues to do so today. His pressing dedication has helped pushed his great versatility, which in recent times has allowed him to collaborate with artists of different genres with unique results. Thus his genre can not be confined to one sole aspect but taken from a variation of Hip Hop, Rap, Pop, Rock, RnB, Funk, Jazz, and Electro sounds. Whatever the arrangement he never fails to astound listeners no matter their music preference.
What separates DON DOLLA from his contemporaries is his personal revolutionary drive and his constant attempt to experiment and make something new and innovative, whether it be in his beats, his recording methods, or in his collaborations. Whether it be a known or unknown artist, as a firm believer in the persistent growth of talent, his strong nurturing charisma pushes the artist to their utmost potential.
DOLLA’S musical influences originate from almost everything, from Neo-Soul to Funk. He grew up listening to Dr Dre, Teddy Riley, Snoop Dogg, Michael Jackson, Charlie Wilson, and Prince amongst others. Aside from these pioneers, the wave of young and fresh artists that also serve as inspiration to this young producer are Missy Elliott, Tweet, Robin Thicke and Musiq Soulchild to name a few.
Aside from his role as a producer, he is also Australia’s leading talk box master. He is no stranger to the stage and can often be found performing in Sydney’s live gig circuit delivering his synthesized vocal styles alongside other artists. His rare and masterful talk box skills have made him well sought after by local and worldwide artists seeking that little extra special addition to their songs.
After years of solid work and handling all production and mixing himself, DON DOLLA released his much anticipated debut album titled INTROMENTAL in June 2009. That same year he released Incredible and Daydream as singles from the album, followed by Generate Some Action, his third single with band Fatback 4Way which has already risen to the top of the charts in the UK.
October 2009 also saw him open up for international acts from Akon and T-Pain to Teddy Riley and Blackstreet in December. The latter has now led the young producer to relocate to Los Angeles and commence work with Teddy Riley and T.R Music Group.
DON DOLLA has recently wrapped up a project with long time friend and artist Mike Champion, as executive producer for Champion’s debut album YOUNG BOY OLD SOUL, due for release in 2010.
Whatever awaits this young man in the near future , it is without doubt that the music industry on a global level is soon to experience and enjoy the explosive fresh sounds of this musical mastermind.
